The list of natural education bases in Guangdong province for the year 2021 was recently released, and Gaozhou Botanical Garden from Maoming was included on the list.

The botanical garden is the second provincial natural education base in Maoming since the province started its construction of natural education bases in 2018.

Gaozhou Botanical Garden covers an area of nearly 1,500 mu (100 hectares). Its construction started in 2019, and is expected to build a comprehensive demonstration park and forest science popularization education base.

The botanical garden currently has basic facilities such as the forestry economy demonstration base, a special plant tissue culture laboratory, a nature trail, and the forest cultural square.

The second phase of construction of the botanical garden is scheduled to start at the end of September with an investment of 60 million yuan ($9.3 million), which will consist of a science museum, multi-functional classrooms, the plant science popularization corridor and the medicinal garden.
