Maoming's two villages become national rural governance models

In Maoming, Yuanba and Gancun villages were listed among the second batch of national rural governance demonstration villages, according to a recent notice published on the official website of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs.

Yuanba village has built itself into a characteristic Lingnan village that is supported by the 6-kilometer-long Lixiang avenue and the 4-km Genzi River greenway. It has various special scenic spots such as Genzi River, Ink Bridge and Chuxin Square, attracting numerous domestic and foreign tourists.

Gancun village is a village with a time-honored revolutionary history. During the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression (1931-45) and the War of Liberation (1945-49), more than 1,000 villagers supported the revolutions directly or indirectly, and 25 revolutionary martyrs were from this village. The village had the largest number of people participating in the revolutions and the largest number of revolutionary martyrs in Maoming.

The village was listed as a red culture village in Guangdong province in 2017, and was ranked as a characteristic cultural and tourism village in Guangdong in 2019. It has become a popular destination for red cultural tourism.
