Huazhou and Gaozhou, two county-level cities in Maoming, were recently selected as the national photovoltaic (PV) roof development pilots by the National Energy Administration.

A total of 676 districts, counties, and county-level cities countrywide were included in the list, of which 32 are from Guangdong province.

PV roof development consists of installing solar PV modules, PV inverters, PV brackets and other components on the flat or pitched roofs of a dwelling.

The PV modules receive sunlight to generate a direct current, which is converted into an alternating current through inverters and is connected to households with 220-volt electric wires.
