Three towns in Maoming were recently listed among national towns with featured industries worth 1 billion yuan ($156.47 million) in 2021 by the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs.

The towns are Qianpai town in Xinyi, Gongguan town in Maonan district and Bohe town in Binhai New Area.

Qianpai town is famous for Sanhua plums. In 2020, the town's Sanhua plum planting area reached 85,000 mu (5,667 hectares), with an output value of 480 million yuan and a per capita income of more than 6,600 yuan.

Gongguan town is a major agricultural town in Maonan, with six pillar agricultural industries. Among them, tilapia is the most prominent. The town currently has several leading tilapa enterprises at the municipal, provincial and national levels, such as the Weiye tilapia fish farm.

Bohe town has the largest fishing port in Guangdong province, and marine fishing was the largest featured industry in the town In 2019, with the total output of fishery products in the town standing at 140,000 metric tons, worth more than 1.7 billion yuan.
