The nation's first 5G explosion-proof special network for the petrochemical industry was recently put into operation at Sinopec Maoming Petrochemical Company.

The 5G explosion-proof network adopts a flexible networking model known as "public network slicing + explosion-proof exclusive", which has solved issues related to Sinopec Maoming's high requirements for on-site equipment explosion-proof grade, difficult wireless signal transmission and high construction costs, and covers the production area with 5G network signals.

"For refining companies, an explosion-proof base station is the key to ensuring mobile communication networks in equipment areas that are in a high-temperature, high-pressure and flammable environment," said Qiu Jun, the information center manager in Sinopec Maoming.

Qiu added that the full 5G coverage of the whole plant area will speed up the company's development.
