Maoming held a conference to create provincial clean towns on June 2, 2021. By the end of 2021, Maoming had invested 526 million yuan ($82.55 million).

Maoming's counties and towns have established work leadership groups and health care offices and cooperated with patriotic clean offices to improve the environment.

In 2021, 52 towns in Maoming were declared clean towns of Guangdong, 23 of which were located in Gaozhou county-level city. Maoming's patriotic health office arranged for experts to conduct unannounced visits and technical assessments for these 52 towns.

Maoming provides a "5G+ digital technology" rural service platform to promote the development of provincial clean towns. People can quickly submit opinions by scanning the QR code on the platform, which is convenient for hygiene management.

On the platform, online administrators will accept, reply, and supervise opinions, which can accurately locate problems. Since the platform opened in July 2021, it has solved 1,120 problems.

In order to create provincial clean towns, Maoming has built 84 parks, 123 kilometers of ecological belts, and 180 public toilets and renovated 348.24 km of roads and 42 agricultural markets.
