Since the implementation of the river chief system five years ago, Maoming has added 89 urban domestic sewage treatment facilities, with an additional treatment capacity of 337,700 cubic meters per day. As a result, the city's domestic waste incineration treatment scale has reached 5,500 metric tons per day, which can meet Maoming's harmless domestic waste treatment needs. In addition, all 12 black and odorous water bodies in its urban area have been completely treated.

By the end of 2021, Maoming has built 101 sewage treatment facilities, with a treatment capacity of 671,200 cu m per day, and a cumulative urban sewage pipe network of about 1,550 kilometers.

Four newly built green energy and environmental protection power generation projects in Maoming have also been put into operation, promoting the upgrading and transformation of the municipal solid waste incineration plant.

Maoming has also built five county-level construction waste disposal facilities, including two construction waste recycling projects, two construction waste acceptance sites, and one temporary disposal site.
