The China Center for Information Industry Development (CCID) county economic research center issued the 2021 CCID Top 100 Rural Vitalization Counties list on April 14, in which three county-level cities in Maoming made the list. Among them, Gaozhou ranked fourth in China and first in Guangdong province, Huazhou ranked ninth in China and second in Guangdong, while Xinyi ranked 10th in China and third in Guangdong.

The scale, output, and output value of Gaozhou's agricultural industry rank first in the province. Its grain area and output have been over 900,000 mu (60,000 hectares) and 400,000 metric tons respectively for many years, ranking first in Guangdong. In 2021, Gaozhou's agriculture, forestry, animal husbandry, and fishery industries achieved an output value of 27.05 billion yuan ($4.24 billion), with an increase of 7.87 percent from 2020.

Huazhou makes full use of the advantages of its abundant agricultural resources, promoting the structural reform of its agricultural supplies, as well as accelerating the cultivation of new drivers for agricultural and rural development. It has also built characteristic pillar industries in its grain, tangerine, fruit, tilapia, pig, vegetables, agarwood, sucrose, and sericulture industries.

Xinyi has made remarkable achievements in its modern agriculture industry. Last year, it added two provincial-level agricultural leading enterprises, four municipal-level agricultural leading enterprises, 26 farmers' professional cooperatives, and 34 family farms. It also built five Sanhua plum high-standard construction demonstration bases and one seed breeding demonstration base last year.
