Dianbai's agarwood industry develops quickly

Dianbai district in Maoming is known as the hometown of Chinese agarwood. At present, the planting area of agarwood trees in Dianbai district is more than 100,000 mu (6,667 hectares), with the district being home to 2,821 enterprises.

The products cover agarwood seedlings, handicrafts, agarwood tea, agarwood essence, agarwood decoction pieces, and Chinese patent medicine, with an annual sales value of 3 billion yuan ($453.5 million). Dianbai agarwood has gradually formed five major advantages in planting, marketing, culture, branding, and technology.

Shadong village is located in Guanzhu town, Dianbai district and is a famous agarwood distribution center. Almost every household in the village is engaged in the agarwood industry. Today, the whole agarwood industry chain, integrating the research and development, planting, production, processing, as well as sales of agarwood seedlings, can be found here. The agarwood products of Shadong village are sold at home and abroad, with an annual output value of 130 million yuan and a transaction volume of 700 to 800 million yuan.

In recent years, Dianbai district has upgraded Agarwood Street into a national 3A tourist attraction. There are about 100,000 mu of agarwood in the area, while 15 million agarwood seedlings are cultivated every year, accounting for 80 percent of the national market. In addition, 2,821 agarwood enterprises have been developed in the area, forming a product chain of more than 100 kinds of agarwood in seven categories, generating an annual output value of nearly 3 billion yuan and supporting more than 40,000 employees.

Shadong village in the district's Guanzhu town has strengthened the cultivation of professional agarwood livestream talents. It has also guided agarwood growers, enterprise representatives, entrepreneurial youth, and other groups in its jurisdiction to expand the sales channels of agarwood products by holding Douyin livestream training courses.

The owner of a local agarwood store said that the store's livestreams have generated about 200,000 yuan in daily sales, while the monthly income of livestream anchors ranges from 5,000 yuan to 40,000 yuan. The products the store sells are mainly agarwood handicrafts, which are primarily sold to Beijing, Tianjin, Jiangsu, Zhejiang, and Shanghai, as well as international regions like the United States, Europe, and the Middle East.
