The city of Maoming in South China's Guangdong province has recently sent its first batch of fresh lychees to Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP) countries by air. Due to the implementation of the RCEP earlier this year, the city has seen a significant increase of export orders for its new lychee varieties.
Lin Bo, a lychee dealer in Maoming, said that he received more than 60 metric tons of orders from RCEP countries, doubling the amount from last year, including 21 orders from Southeast Asia.
Thanks to the implementation of the RCEP, Maoming is expected to export 5,000 tons of lychees to RCEP countries this year, with an export value of more than 75 million yuan ($11.2 million).
