Gaozhou, a county-level city in Maoming, Guangdong province, recently launched customized services for lychee picking to attract more tourists and increase incomes of local farmers.  

Gaozhou provides family trees, love trees, friendship trees, parent-child trees, team building trees, and gratitude trees. People are able to customize different meanings behind the lychee trees by adding personalized cards on them, as well as receive exclusive services of fruit picking and lychee home delivery.

On April 29, the customized lychee purchase model was launched at the Gaozhou lychee and longan purchasing conference, as well as the Gaozhou lychee live streaming event to promote the sales of lychees.

People can not only customize their lychee tree online, but also on-site in orchards. Not only can they experience the fun of picking lychees in person, but they can also get free picking services covering packing boxes and other services. The lychees grown on their tree can also be delivered to their home by only paying for the express delivery.

Before the lychees are picked, the customizer will receive at least five pictures and videos showing the growth of the lychees at different stages.

Maoming is the world's largest lychee planting base, of which Gaozhou has a planting area of 558,000 mu (37,200 hectares). To date, 8,385 lychee trees have been customized in Gaozhou, including 392 lychee trees that are over 100 years old. The price of customized lychees is more than double that of the common, which effectively bolsters the incomes of lychee farmers.
