Maoming Binhai New Area has been included in 25 provincial and municipal key construction projects this year, with a total investment of about 45.46 billion yuan ($6.81 billion) and an annual planned investment of 7.38 billion yuan.

The cumulative investment from January to May was 2.23 billion yuan, while the annual planned investment completion rate was 30.14 percent.

The Donghua Energy (Maoming) alkane resources comprehensive utilization project is one of the key projects of Guangdong and Maoming in 2022. Its main product processing route will use the propane resources imported by Donghua Energy to obtain propylene and hydrogen using propane dehydrogenation (PDH) technology, and then further process to obtain polypropylene (PP).

The first phase of the project includes a 600,000-metric-ton/year PDH unit, a 400,000-ton/year PP unit, a 200,000-ton/year synthetic ammonia unit, as well as supporting public works and auxiliary facilities. To date, more than 72 percent of the construction of the first phase of the project has been completed.
