Recently, a truck carrying bamboo baskets from Xinyi Hengjia Craft Products valued at roughly 97,000 yuan ($14,388) was brought in under the supervision of Maoming Customs and with the help of the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP).

The bamboo items will be exported to the Oceania region in this batch. This is the first shipment of bamboo, wood, and grass items that Xinyi, a county-level city, has exported after being awarded an RCEP certificate of origin by customs.

The most supportive sector helping Xinyi's exports is the bamboo product industry, which is also critical to the overall promotion of rural vitalization. Currently, there are more than 200,000 mu (13,333 hectares) of bamboo forests planted in the city, and more than 30 nations import goods from Xinyi.

Maoming Customs undertakes company research, develops and issues the certificate of origin visa process, and offers RCEP consultation channels in order to assist Xinyi bamboo goods in benefiting from the RCEP policy dividends and increasing exports.

"In January of this year, Maoming Customs explained policies to us, including the tariff reductions that RCEP will be applied to bamboo weaving products in RCEP member countries, and how to use the accumulation of origin to promote the transformation and upgrading of the bamboo product industry," said Lai Xiaoling, president of Xinyi Hengjia Craft Products.
