Maoming wins 2 gold medals in provincial wrestling competition

Maoming won two gold medals in the 16th Guangdong Provincial Games' wrestling competition, which finished on Aug 20.

The wrestling competition of the 16th Guangdong Provincial Games was held in Lianzhou, a county-level city under Qingyuan's jurisdiction, from Aug 13 to 20. The Maoming wrestling team won two gold, three silver, and four bronze medals, with three fifth place and two seventh place finishes. It had a total group score of 131.5 points, ranking 10th in the province.

On the last day of the competition, Tian Rucheng, an athlete jointly trained by Maoming and Shenzhen Demonstration Bases, won the men's A 70 kilograms championship.

Born in 2004, Tian has been training in the men's freestyle wrestling team of the Guangdong Heavy Competitive Sports Center. In 2020, he signed an agreement with the Shenzhen Demonstration Base for joint training. After several years of training in the provincial team, his physical fitness ability and technical level have improved significantly, leading to his strong result at the Guangdong Provincial Games.

In the freestyle wrestling event of 16th Guangdong Games, many members of the Maoming wrestling team performed well. Liang Lixian won second place in the women's A 53kg group, Wang Guanming won third place in the women's C 48kg group, and Wu Ziqing won third place in the women's B 61kg group. In addition, Huang Zetong won third place in the men's B 52kg group, and Zhang Guolong won third place in the men's B 65kg group.
