Maoming has established a four-level forest chief organization system, covering city, county, town, and village levels, with 11,638 forest chiefs, 1,781 forest rangers, and 5,230 supervisors.

Since the full implementation of the forest chief system, the four-level forest chiefs in Maoming have coordinated and solved more than 600 forest-related incidents, effectively solving the problems of insufficient protection and development of forest resources.

From March 30 to April 24, the completion rate of environment rectification tasks in Maoming jumped from 17.61 percent to 63.7 percent. The city has completed spring afforestation and ecological restoration covering more than 65,000 mu (4,333 hectares), as well as completed 32 demonstration sites for rural environment.

The county-level city Gaozhou invested 4.5 million yuan ($650,448) to build a smart forest chief platform, which collects all forest resource information like nature reserves, ecological public welfare forests, ancient and famous trees, forest land and tree approval data, as well as forest inspection maps. Monitors manage them in real-time, while forest managers can view relevant data in real-time, supervise the forests in their jurisdictions and deal with emergencies on time.

Maoming has included mikania micrantha as a key project in the prevention and control of forest pests, coordinating funds of 5.06 million yuan at all levels, with plans to take centralized control measures for 25,300 mu of mikania micrantha, in which various districts have successively carried out prevention and control measures.
