Maoming's import, export value reaches 16.15b yuan

Maoming's total value of imports and exports of goods reached 16.15 billion yuan ($2.25 billion) from January to August, an increase of 40.8 percent, according to Customs' statistics. The growth rate ranked first in the province, 30.7 percentage points and 40.2 percentage points higher than the national and provincial growth rates respectively.

The city's exports were valued at 11.33 billion yuan, up 33.2 percent, while its imports totaled 4.82 billion yuan, up 62.7 percent. At present, a cross-border e-commerce express clearance supervision site has been established in Dianbai district, which boasts four fully automated sorting lines, including CT machines, and a daily parcel processing capacity of 15,000 pieces. From January to August, Maoming realized 396 million yuan of cross-border e-commerce import and export transactions, up 13.79 percent year-on-year.

In March, the expansion of Maoming Port's Bohe New Port was approved for a one-year extension, while Maoming Guanggang Terminal was approved to open temporarily to the public for the fourth time in May. By the end of August, 17 foreign vessels had docked at the terminal, which imported about 474,900 metric tons of cargo.

As of the end of August, Maoming exempted 1,790 yuan from the inspection of containers with no problems, with two import and export enterprises exempted from the fee, further activating the market vitality of the city's foreign trade enterprises.
