Maoming has an adequate supply of household goods and has maintained stable prices overall to combat recent flare-ups of the pandemic.
As of Nov 5, Maoming has set up nine monitoring points and implemented a system to effectively track the daily prices of key commodities. These efforts include the daily monitoring and collection of disposable medical masks, disinfectants, and nine other kinds of epidemic prevention materials, as well as 18 foods such as oil, meat, and eggs. To keep tabs on the situation, authorities have been analyzing the changing prices and fluctuating levels of supply and demand to better grasp market conditions.
On Nov 5, senior officials from the Maoming municipal market supervision bureau led the price supervision and inspection team to venture downtown to inspect the prices of daily staples like cooking, oil, meat, eggs, and milk, which many people rely on.
The bureau reminded business operators to stay in accordance with the law and implement the code-price and fee-disclosure system, and strictly prohibit the fabrication or dissemination of information about price increases in a way that could disrupt the market order.
If any examples of price collusion are detected to artificially raise prices, fraud, hoarding or any other illegal acts related to inflation and market manipulation during this time of epidemic prevention and control, they will be dealt with strictly and meet the full force of the law.
