Recently, the Luoding–Xinyi Expressway won the 2022 highway and transportation excellence design award and the 2022 highway and transportation excellence survey award.

These awards are organized by China Highway Survey and Design Association to promote technological innovation in the engineering survey and design industry and to encourage enterprises and personnel in this industry to create more projects with excellent quality.

The Luoding–Xinyi Expressway opened to traffic on June 11, 2021, and it has a total length of about 130 kilometers and four lanes going in both directions. It starts from Weidi town, passes through Maoming city, and ends at Hehua town.

The Luoding–Xinyi Expressway was built along high mountains and deep valleys, so its construction was complex. 66.6 percent of the expressway was built onto support columns and it has an abridge-tunnel ratio of 39.8 percent. The expressway goes through the Guizi fracture zone and another 12 ecologically sensitive areas. In addition, 2.4 km of the expressway is affected by heavy fog.

The project team transplanted and protected more than 2,300 native trees for landscape enhancement, and worked on ecological restoration of temporary land to achieve the afforestation of about 230 mu (15 hectares).
