Maoming grain production awarded as excellent in Guangdong for 3 consecutive years

Grain production in Maoming received another excellent grade in the assessment of Guangdong province, and its third in as many years.

In recent years, Maoming has built up a clear responsibility, stable production, adequate reserves, strong regulation and control and efficient operation of the food security system, to ensure food security in Maoming and throughout the province as well.

From 2019 to 2021, the grain production area of Maoming was 3.7 million mu (246,666 hectares), 3.75 million mu and 3.76 million mu, and the output was 1.42 million metric tons, 1.52 million tons and 1.53 million tons respectively, which shows the stable growth of grain production and reflects the responsibility of Maoming as a large grain production city in ensuring food security.

In 2021, Maoming paid reserve grain and oil subsidies at all levels in a total amount of 145 million yuan ($20.75 million). In 2022, the province approved the city's food risk fund scale number at 121 million yuan, actually arranged the food risk fund scale number at 144 million yuan, and implemented the scale number at 0.23 billion yuan.

From 2021 to 2022, the volume of summer grain and rice harvested in Maoming reached 59.74 million tons and 59.76 million tons, respectively. All nine new grain storage facilities in Maoming are in operation, with a construction capacity of 327,900 tons and a total investment of 314.13 million yuan.

Maoming accelerated the construction of the Gaozhou county-level city standardized grain reserve warehouse and upgrading of supporting facilities as well as the Huzhou county-level city municipal reserve warehouse renovation and upgrading project, with a total investment of 168 million yuan. Ten Maoming grain collection and storage enterprises implemented intelligent upgrading and transformation to realize information management of reserve grain.

The emergency supply network in Maoming achieved full coverage in urban and rural areas, and the city's emergency food processing capacity reached 2,858 tons per day. Four warehousing enterprises in Maoming passed the provincial "AAA" grain warehouse assessment, and the standardized management level of warehousing has been improved year by year.
