Recently, Maoming ranked 30th in the list of winter habitats for elders in China.
Located south of the Tropic of Cancer, Maoming is a subtropical monsoon climate zone with a pleasant average year-round temperature between 22.8 C and 23.4 C.

In terms of tourism resources, Maoming has excellent all-terrain features. With alpine meadows and primitive forests in the north, a vast sea, hundreds of miles of silver beaches and thousand-year fishing ports in the south, plus hot springs, agriculture and cultural facilities, Maoming is rich in tourism resources and has unique conditions for further development of that industry.
With 182 kilometers of coastline, Maoming's coastal resource endowment has reached the international A level. The north-central region of Maoming is mostly mountainous and hilly, which is suitable for forest growth and fruit plantation development. Dawu mountain in the territory is a provincial nature reserve with an altitude of 1,704 meters.

Up to now, Maoming has 636,500 hectares of forest, 532,900 hectares of woodland, 33 million cubic meters of forest accumulation, 55.7 percent forest coverage, 44.27 percent urban greening coverage, 96.63 percent road greening, and 18.16 square meters of park green space per capita.
