The Guangdong Research Institute of Water Resources and Hydropower recently released the first province-wide handy map with camping as its theme. Among the various sites shown, Maoming Jinjiang Gallery Belt Road, the Maoming open-pit mine and Haoxin Lake Belt Road are on the list, and the first of those is rated as a five-star camping site.

A total of 35 campsites in the province were selected for this map, including 10 five-star campsites offering beautiful ecological environments and good water-friendly experiences.

The map integrates factors such as safety, ecology, convenience and popularity, selects and highlights a number of campgrounds with unique water-friendly charm in the province, and provides thoughtful guidelines for people's leisure travel.

Located in the Xiaoshui River-Dongjiang River section of Xinyi, a county-level city in Maoming, the Maoming Jinjiang Gallery Belt Road highlights along its length eight theme parks, including Zhenlong Duzhou Ancient City, the Gaocheng reservoir, ecological wetlands, mountains, forests, one wetland park, nine stations and a large number of special cultural and tourism facilities.

In accordance with the principle of maximum protection, the Maoming Jinjiang Gallery Belt Road presents the original natural landscape, maintains the natural form of the Jinjiang River, insists on less land acquisition, eliminates urbanized landscapes, focuses on the characteristics of the countryside, makes full use of the advantages of human resources, integrates the idyllic scenery on both sides of the Jinjiang River, and creates a scenic experience that is rich in regional cultural characteristics and that integrates the green road itself, a marathon course and an ecological cycling path.

Walking along the belt road, people can experience farming culture by stepping into the paddy-field paradise created in conjunction with rural industries. They can also experience the culture of pottery when they enter the art gallery, which is for the most part actually made of pottery, and, carrying on along the way, can feel the bamboo weaving culture, overseas Chinese culture and other cultural characteristics, which collectively are one of the reasons the belt road was named a high-quality route of rural tourism in Guangdong province.
