Gaozhou, a county-level city in Maoming, was recently selected to be a 2022 national advanced county for agricultural and rural informatization development.

There were 106 counties selected onto the list of 2022 national advanced counties for agricultural and rural informatization development.

In 2022, Gaozhou was included in the first group of national agricultural modernization demonstration zones and was named one of the first national rural revitalization demonstration counties.

In 2021, the rice output of Gaozhou was 388,000 metric tons and its fruit production was 1.95 million tons, both ranking first in Guangdong province. Its total output value of its agriculture, forestry, animal husbandry, and fishery industry was 27.05 billion yuan ($4 billion), also ranking first in the province.

Relying on the modern agricultural industry platform, Gaozhou has built 12 scientific and technological innovation platforms above the provincial level, realizing the transformation from artificial rice harvesting to mechanized harvesting, as well as from artificial drying to mechanical drying of grains. The total power of agricultural machinery in the city totals 510,600 kilowatts, while the comprehensive mechanization rate of rice cultivation and harvest is 74.63 percent.

Gaozhou has also built a processing chain of fruit, grain and oil, livestock and poultry, as well as aquatic products, which is driven by leading enterprises. The processing of major agricultural products has initially realized mechanical production, and the production of several leading enterprises has gradually incorporated smart technology.
