The Maoming bureau of agriculture and rural affairs and the Sichuan Tertiary Industry Association hosted the presentation, which introduced the history of tilapia in Maoming. Maoming boasts a strong tilapia breeding environment that is renowned for its safety and for producing tilapia with high nutrition and good taste. Representatives of Maoming tilapia enterprises presented and promoted the whole industry chain of tilapia, including tilapia fry, breeding technology, as well as cooperation plans.

Maoming has an area of 260,000 mu (17,333 hectares) for tilapia aquaculture in freshwater and 30,000 mu for mixed aquaculture in seawater. There are more than 15,000 tilapia farmers, generating an annual output of 252,800 metric tons of tilapia, accounting for one-ninth of China's total output. The city has become the largest tilapia aquaculture advantage area and export processing base in China, making it the country's tilapia capital.

The presentation also included the strategic cooperation signing ceremony of the association, the Sichuan Tertiary Industry Association, the Sichuan Hotpot Association, the Chengdu Chamber of Commerce of Cold Chain Logistics, and the Maoming Tilapia Association.

At the presentation, professional chefs also cooked various dishes with Maoming tilapia as ingredients. The meat quality was tender and praised by attendees, which allowed them to gain a deeper understanding of tilapia.
