On Feb 22, the groundbreaking ceremony for Liru Senior High School, which was established by Maoming municipal government, South China Normal University and the Xinyi county-level city government, was held in Xinyi.

Liru Senior High School is a public school in Maoming that is affiliated with South China Normal University. More than 400 million yuan ($58 million) will be invested in order to construct the school, which will cover an initial area of 136 mu (9 hectares) and have a building area of 71,000 square meters. The school will have an  estimated number of 2,400, and is scheduled to open for freshman enrollment in September 2023.
