Maoming recently held the 2023 Green Maoming Ecological Construction Promotion meeting, in which the city announced that it plans to build at least one green and beautiful Maoming ecological construction demonstration site in each of its districts and counties.

The city will prioritize forest parks and forest ecological comprehensive demonstration parks in its construction of demonstration sites to create more green spaces.

Xinyi, Gaozhou, and Huazhou will establish national forest cities at the county level, while three other county-level cities under its jurisdiction have made annual task plans according to the annual forest city construction plans. Maoming will also build a Maoming Botanical Garden to promote biodiversity protection.

Maoming will also develop the "five trees, one fish, and one table of dishes" model. The five trees refer to lychees, longans, agarwood, exocarpium citri grandis, and Sanhua plums, while the one fish refers to tilapia.

In 2023, the city plans to add 10.3 kilometers in ecological belts and build 5.5 km in highway ecological belts. Maoming will also promote the construction of the Haoxin ecological belt in the central urban area and complete 32.4 km of the Haoxin ecological belt in the central urban area. It will complete 3,600 mu (240 hectares) in mine restoration work, while also completing the construction and restoration of 1288.5 mu in mangrove areas.
