Maoming issues ecological environment development plan

Recently Maoming announced its new ecological environment development plan, which states that by 2027, Maoming will improve the quality of its forests by 400,000 mu (26,667 hectares) and cultivate 270,000 mu of saplings, with forest stock reaching 40.75 million cubic meters.

By 2035, Maoming plans to improve the quality of its forests by 740,000 mu, and cultivate 780,000 mu of saplings, with more than 60 percent of mixed trees and 59 percent of broad-leaved trees planted.

By 2027, Xinyi, Gaozhou and Huazhou are all expected to pass county-level inspections to become county-level national forest cities, and Maoming plans to build 10 forest towns.

By 2027, the ecological mine restoration area in Maoming is planned to be no less than 15,000 mu. Additionally, 150 square kilometers of soil erosion control area is planned to be completed, along with the city's soil and water conservation rate exceeding 90 percent.

By 2027, the land portion of Maoming's protected natural area will account for more than 11 percent of its land area. In that same time span, Maoming plans to build a provincial demonstration wetland park, restoring mangrove trees in a 2,700-mu area.
