On April 10, the track and field competition of the 9th Guangdong Games for Disabled Persons kicked off in Qingyuan. The Maoming track and field team won two gold, nine silver, and one bronze medals.

Maoming currently ranks sixth in the overall track and field ranking, with 64 points.

Maoming's first medal in this competition was won by He Mingkang, who won the silver medal in the men's long jump finals.

Cheng Huirong won the first gold medal for Maoming in the women's T33/34 100-meter final.

Additionally, He Wei of Maoming won the gold medal in the men's T45/46 100m final. He said he won one gold and two silver medals in the first Guangdong Games for Disabled Persons, and that he hopes to take part in the next Guangdong Games for Disabled Persons as well.
