Maoming recently announced plans to issue measures to protect its ancient lychee trees.

As the first local regulations to protect ancient lychee trees in Maoming, they will strengthen the protection of ancient lychee trees and rare lychee tree resources. This will help to improve public awareness of the importance of ancient lychee tree protection.

Maoming has a lychee planting history of more than 1,000 years, and has a planting area of up to 1.39 million mu (92,667 hectares). Maoming has more than 350 lychee trees that are over 1,000 years old, more than 1,000 trees that are over 500 years old, and 19,400 trees over 100 years old.
