Maoming wants ideas for 17th Guangdong Provincial Games

Preparations are proceeding for the 17th Guangdong Provincial Games, which will be held in  Maoming in South China's Guangdong province in 2026.

Currently, the preparatory committee for the 17th Guangdong Provincial Games in Maoming is soliciting designs from the public for the logo, anthem, mascot, theme and slogan of the games.

The affair is the province's biggest, most complete, highest level and most competitive sports event ever.

As the main venue of the 2026 Guangdong Provincial Games, the Maoming Olympic Sports Center covers an area of about 500 mu (33 hectares) and includes a stadium, a sports hall and exhibition hall, a swimming pool and a fitness center for the public.

The overall design of the Maoming Olympic Sports Center project is also said to incorporate the local culture of the city.

The collection campaign starts from now until Sept 8. The selected design for the mascot will receive a top prize of up to 100,000 yuan ($13,949) and a certificate. The total value of the collection campaign prizes will range up to 250,000 yuan.

The applications should embody the spirit of tenacious struggle and the courage to compete, as well as reflect the characteristics of Maoming.

The concepts should be mailed to the Maoming Radio and Television Station, at No 1 Yingbin 4th Road, Maoming, Guangdong province.
