Among those attending the event were Chen Houbin, a professor at SCAU and chief scientist of the National Longan and Lychee Industry Technology System, leaders from Caojiang town, students from South China Agricultural University and farmers from the town.
While it was the first one launched in Maoming, the program for the construction of Yonggen Technology Stations has so far deployed 56 such stations in Guangdong province.
They cover multiple areas of cultivation, including rice, flowers, aquaculture, fruit trees, vegetables, poultry and livestock.
SCAU has allocated research funding for each technology station and is also providing two master's degree students for them annually. It offers technological, cultural and talent support for each local government and enterprise development.
SCAU has also held a summer agricultural investigation in Maoming. This is seen as being beneficial for agricultural scientific research, agricultural technology demonstrations and promotions, as well as training high-quality farmers.
