In the field of science and technology, Maoming has 94 provincial-level innovation strategic special projects organized for this year, along with 519 municipal-level projects that are in the planning stage. The city intends to use a budget of 21.25 million ($2.96 million) yuan to support them all.

Maoming has registered 12 scientific and technological achievements and 192 technical contracts to date, and has achieved a turnover of 59 million yuan for the latter.

This year the city will add 14 provincial-level research centers for engineering technology and 38 such centers on a municipal level. At present, it has over 500 innovation platforms, including four branches of national innovation platforms.
