From Aug 7 to 9, about 10 companies in Maoming promoted Chuliang longans in Taiyuan, Shanxi province, to promote their efforts to cooperate in selling the prized fruit.

Maoming is the birthplace of Chuliang longans. Those produced here were awarded the High-Quality Award at the First China Agricultural Expo.

"Maoming Chuliang longans have thin skin, thick flesh, small pits, crisp texture and a sweet taste. Once people from Shanxi have tasted it, they will definitely fall in love with it!" said the person in charge of the Maoming agricultural and rural bureau.

Currently, the total acreage of lychee plantation in Maoming is 810,000 mu (54,000 hectares), accounting for about half of that in the province and one-fifth of that in the country. The annual output is 490,000 metric tons, surpassing half of the province and one-quarter of the country's total output.

This promotion has boosted the popularity of Chuliang longans, driving up sales of Maoming longans in Shanxi.
