The main building of a modern agricultural industry park for marine fisheries in Binhai New Area, Maoming, was topped out on Aug 14. This park is expected to be a smart mariculture base in Maoming after completion.   

Two factories are expected to start production in September. These will mainly incubate grouper fries.

Early in June this year, the Binhai New Area National Coastal Fishing Port Economic Zone in Maoming was selected as a pilot project for the 2023 National Level Coastal Fishing Port Economic Zone list announced by the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs.

It is the only pilot project selected in Guangdong province, with a total investment of 1.28 billion yuan ($180 million) and a subsidy of 400 million yuan from the central and provincial governments.

The construction period is three years. The project includes the building of a safe, green and smart fishing port with booming industries and distinctive culture.

Binhai New Area will catch this opportunity to promote the integrated development of the fishing port economic zone and marine ranch, and create a national modern fishing port economic zone that integrates marine ranching, sea food production and processing, advanced technology application, brand building, business promotion and leisure tourism throughout the entire chain.
