On Oct 9, Chen Guanfeng, the champion of the men's 4x100 meter relay at the Hangzhou Asian Games, returned to his hometown - Dianbai district in Maoming, receiving a warm welcome from the local residents.

Chen and his teammates defeated the Japanese team and won the gold medal in the men's 4x100 meter relay, bringing honor to the Chinese athletics team.

At 11:00 am, Chen's vehicle entered Ningshan village, Dianbai district. As soon as he got out of the car, he put the gold medal he won at the Asian Games around his grandfather's neck. Villagers then came forward to  congratulate him. Chen expressed his gratitude for the warm welcome and said that their support and encouragement filled him with strength during the competition.

The Dianbai district government awarded Chen 80,000 yuan ($11,000) for his astounding victory. Currently, he has joined Su Bingtian's team to receive more scientific and systematic training, which will help him further improve his performance.

After a brief rest, Chen will start preparing for the 2024 Paris Olympics.
