In recent years, Chenxiangxu, or agarwood market, in Shatong village, Dianbai district, Maoming city, Guangdong province has become a demonstration project for the city's plan to revitalize its markets and villages.

Chenxiangxu is a crucial trading hub for the agarwood industry in Dianbai. It boasts a complete industrial chain and offers a wide variety of agarwood products, with over 100 different types available in seven major categories.

Agarwood, better known as chenxiang in China, is known for its fragrance and use in traditional Chinese medicine. It is often used for perfumes, incense and souvenirs.

Local enterprises are developing new products using agarwood to appeal to demands of customers. They are also working with the government to bring in research institutions and cultivate professionals to foster innovation.

Furthermore, Shatong village is seeking to attract high-quality projects, including the construction of scenic areas, an agarwood-themed service area, and a sales center, further enhancing the diversity and sustainable development of the industry. The newly-opened Shatong exit on the Shenzhen-Zhanjiang Highway in July has also provided convenient transportation for the business.

The industry in Dianbai district has yielded strong profits. The annual output value of Guanzhu town, where Chenxiangxu is located, has reached 2 billion yuan($274 million), benefiting 2,800 enterprises and individual households.
