The left tunnel of the Dawangdong No 1 tunnel, which is part of the Yangchun-Xinyi Expressway, was completed on Oct 20, 57 days ahead of schedule.
The tunnel is a key component of the Yangchun-Xinyi Expressway project and spans a length of 679 meters. Located in Dapo town, Gaozhou city, this is a dual-carriageway tunnel with six lanes in each direction. Once operational, it will have a designed speed limit of 120 kilometers per hour.
To ensure the timely completion of the tunnel while minimizing impact on the surrounding ecological environment, advanced drilling, geological radar, and tunnel seepage prediction (TSP) technologies were employed by the construction team.
The Yangchun-Xinyi Expressway, spanning a total length of 141.91 km, connects Yangjiang city and Maoming city in Guangdong province. It will serve as an important artery to the Beibu Gulf in the China (Guangxi) Pilot Free Trade Zone (FTZ), and the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area. This expressway is also considered as a major project in Guangdong province.
The Maoming section of the Yangchun-Xinyi Expressway, with a total length of 78.13 km, passes through Dapo, Guding, Pingshan, Dong'an, Shuikou, Zhenlong, and Beijie towns. This section spans 63 bridges and eight tunnels, with a combined length of 35.05 km.
