On Nov 1, the Maoming Bohe Port Railway in Maoming successfully launched its first rail-sea intermodal train, carrying iron ore imported from Australia.

This marks the official start of operation of the rail-sea intermodal transport system for the Bohe Port Railway, an important logistics corridor in the western Guangdong region, also known as the "logistics superhighway". The railway will play a crucial role in transporting goods along the route, as well as promote deeper integration between Maoming and the Belt and Road Initiative, expanding its trade capabilities and service functions.

The opening of the Bohe Port Railway forms a bulk logistics channel in conjunction with the already completed north-south Luoyang-Zhanjiang Railway, connecting the 21st Century Maritime Silk Road with China's southwestern hinterland. This development drives rail-sea intermodal transportation in Maoming and provides support for the Bohe New Port area, which aspires to become a "one-billion-ton harbor".

At the same time, the new railway provides a high-capacity channel for cargo import and export at Maoming Port, contributing to the accelerated integration of Maoming and surrounding areas into the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area. It offers greater opportunities for Maoming's coastal enterprises to participate in global economic competition, as well as accelerates the city's pivot towards ocean-oriented development and contributing to the growth of the coastal economic belt.
