On Dec 18, the Ocean Drive overpass, one of 14 nodes involved in the Maoming Expressway transformation project, entered a new construction phase.

The main body of the first part of the box girder is gradually taking shape, and is expected to be completed within 26 hours.

Zhao Junyi, the expressway project manager, stated that the construction of the box girder is one of the project's major challenges. To ensure the successful completion of concrete pouring work, the project team heavily monitored preliminary procedures, as well as safety and quality management systems.

The Ocean Drive overpass spans 1.3 kilometers and adopts a combination of elevated main roads and ground-level auxiliary roads. The project's main road is designed for a speed of 80 km per hour, while the auxiliary road is designed for a speed of 40 km per hour. The construction period of the project is estimated to be two years.

The completion of the Maoming Expressway transformation project will enhance traffic capacity, alleviate congestion, and improve the comprehensive transportation network in Maoming.
