Maoming makes significant progress in cross-border e-commerce

Since April 2020, Maoming city has made substantial progress in cross-border e-commerce (CBEC). The import and export volume has seen an increase from 370 million yuan ($51.6 million) to 1.51 billion yuan in 2023. 

This has been achieved with an average annual growth rate of over 40 percent. As a result, it has helped to expand the market for Maoming's local specialties to international buyers.

Maoming has promoted the trial operation of the public service platform for the CBEC comprehensive pilot zone, providing enterprises with one-stop CBEC services. In 2023, Maoming's CBEC incubation park had 20 start-up enterprises stationed, with 10 companies completing cross-border e-commerce transactions totaling over 45.6 million yuan.

Maoming has strengthened exchanges with CBEC enterprises founded by hometown associations in the Pearl River Delta, with three enterprises providing four overseas warehouses to offer overseas warehousing services to foreign trade enterprises in the city.

Maoming city has also participated in international CBEC trade fairs to promote the achievements and distinctive products of Maoming's comprehensive pilot zone.

Additionally, the municipal government promoted the training of professional talents in CBEC, with 90 registered CBEC enterprises in the city, a 42 percent increase compared to the previous year. Local advantageous industries covering Maoming's agarwood products, specialty foods, and textiles have also made breakthroughs in the application of CBEC.
