Since 2003, Maoming city has been committed to the ecological restoration of the Shuidong Bay mangroves and the construction of a beautiful bay.

After years of effort, the city has restored mangrove planting to an area exceeding 280 hectares, making Shuidong Bay one of the country's largest contiguous artificial mangrove planting bases. This creates a unique seaside forest landscape.

With the improvement of the ecological environment, the number of birds and fish in Shuidong Bay has been increasing yearly. Shuidong Bay is now home to over 130 species of birds and more than 90 species of fish, making it one of Guangdong province's top 10 bird-watching sites.

Maoming's Shuidong Bay Ocean Park project is a landscape project aiming to integrate ecology, tourism, sports, and education, showcasing the beautiful environment of the future city.

Shuidong Bay new city has carried out six major projects including coastal restoration and repair, improving and restoring the functionality and ecological environment of the coastal area.

It has interconnected the Ocean Park, the Coastal Greenway, the Shuidong Bay Bridge, and the Wanshoukou Ecological Wetland Project, creating a distinctive coastal tourism and ecological corridor.

It has attracted significant projects, driving the vigorous development of coastal tourism and other tertiary industries and accelerating the high-quality development of the marine economy.
