Maoming held its annual voluntary tree-planting event at the open-pit mine ecological park on Feb 18, aiming to create a beautiful green environment for the city's ecological development.

Since 2015, Maoming has been conducting tree-planting activities on the first day after the Chinese New Year, marking the beginning of tree planting and greening for the new year's spring. Adding new greenery in urban ecological construction has created a beautiful harmony between humans and nature, making greenery a prominent feature of Maoming's high-quality development.

Maoming has attached great importance to afforestation and environmental protection. In recent years, the city has been committed to the idea that "lucid waters and lush mountains are invaluable assets. " The voluntary tree-planting activities have become increasingly popular, and the green landscape continues to expand.

In 2023, the city completed the optimization of 212,000 acres of forest, forest nurturing, and new afforestation, restored 860 mu (57.33 hectares) of mangroves, created 450 kilometers of rivers and lakes, established seven ecological construction demonstration sites in Guangdong, and mobilized 3.62 million people for voluntary tree-planting, resulting in the planting of 12.06 million trees.
