Recently, Maoming held a meeting on ecology and environment protection. The meeting covered its achievements in 2023, including an Air Quality Index (AQI) compliance rate of 98.1 percent, which ranked fifth in Guangdong and first in the west of the province; 239 good air quality days, ranked second in the province.

2024 is a vital year for Maoming to build a beautiful China under the guidance of the spirit of the National Conference on Ecological Environmental Protection. The city will promote its high-quality development to stabilize and improve its ecological quality.

Maoming detailed a number of its ecological targets for 2024: the ratio of good air quality days to be above 96.5 percent, the average concentration of delicate particulate matter (PM 2.5) to be below 22.9 micrograms per cubic meter, and the ratio of heavily polluted weather to be at 0 percent.

For the next step, Maoming will control pollution in a targeted, science-based, and lawful way to intensify pollution prevention and control and promote harmony between humanity and nature in the city.
