On April 22, Huazhou city in Maoming hosted the High-quality Development Conference for the tomentose pummelo peel industry. A 10-year development plan was introduced, which aims to expand production advantages, nurture new productivity, and establish a billion-dollar industry. These aims are expected to drive comprehensive development across the entire industry chain.

During the conference, seven banks extended 7 billion yuan ($0.98 billion) in credit support to the industry. Additionally, four leading agricultural enterprises and 10 planting demonstration bases were awarded.

Huazhou has also implemented a "processing companies + cooperatives + farmers" benefit-sharing mechanism, ensuring a win-win situation for both enterprises and farmers.

In recent years, the tomentose pummelo peel industry has achieved standardized production, branded marketing, and integrated development across primary, secondary, and tertiary sectors, with the annual industry chain output value surpassing 10 billion yuan for the first time.

Looking ahead, Huazhou plans to expand its production capabilities, accelerate the development of a multi-base industry layout, cultivate new quality productive forces for tomentose pummelo peel, and establish it as the pillar industry driving prosperity in villages and towns.
