Maoming, a nationally renowned fruit hub, nurtures numerous high-quality, unique fruits, with its robust production and sales marking a new source of income growth for local villagers.

Following a fruitful lychee harvest this year, the longan picking season is now in full swing. In addition to traditional fruits, emerging fruits such as wampees are also seeing a bountiful harvest.

Maoming boasts a wide variety of unique fruits. For instance, wampee and passion-fruit from Gaozhou and Dianbai, as well as seedless lychees dubbed "dinosaur eggs" from Huazhou, have gained market favor due to their distinctive quality and taste. Notably, the seedless lychee sells for as high as 25 yuan ($3.4) per piece and has been exported to Singapore, showcasing the international competitiveness of Maoming's fruits.

In terms of cultivation, Maoming consistently introduces new varieties and optimizes planting techniques to ensure fruit quality. By addressing challenges in maintaining freshness and cold chain logistics, the city has further expanded its fruit sales channels.

Additionally, Maoming is exploring creative marketing and extending the industrial chain through means such as live-streaming sales and the development of deep-processed wampee products, increasing the fruits' added value and opening new avenues for farmer income.

The vigorous development of Maoming's fruit industry has not only enriched fruit offerings for residents, but also brought considerable economic benefits to local farmers,  contributing to rural vitalization.
