The stadium construction site at Maoming Olympic Sports Center is bustling now. The project, undertaken by China State Construction Engineering Corporation (CSCEC) Second Bureau, is in full swing, with over 300 workers laboring day and night to ensure timely progress.

The stadium is set to host the 17th Guangdong Provincial Games in 2026. The steel roof structure was completed on Aug 19, marking the end of the main structural phase. Currently, the project is focused on installing steel roof cables, with 90 percent of the steel structure and 50 percent of the circumferential cables completed. The construction of the long-span trusses for the fitness center roof is also progressing rapidly.

The project team has intensified safety management efforts, conducting daily safety inspections and pre-shift safety education to ensure high-quality and efficient construction. The team is committed to maintaining a safe and orderly work environment.

Maoming Olympic Sports Center, with a total construction area of 72,400 square meters, will feature a Class B stadium, a fitness center, approximately 30,000 spectator seats, supporting facilities, and outdoor engineering. Upon completion, the stadium will meet the requirements of the Provincial Games and benefit the city's fitness and sports industry, enhancing urban infrastructure and enabling the hosting of international events and large-scale concerts.
