Guangdong's green petrochemical industry cluster is rapidly rising, with green petrochemicals becoming one of Guangdong's top 10 strategic pillar industries. As the only specialized petrochemical higher education institution in South China, over its 70-year history, Guangdong University of Petrochemical Technology has developed a distinctive and advantageous academic and research platform in petrochemical processing, safety, pollution control, and resource utilization. The research institute aims to leverage these strengths to build a high-level collaborative innovation platform for the petrochemical industry.
The research institute's construction is estimated to cost 200 million yuan ($27.62 million), with plans to establish six research centers focusing on intelligent petrochemical technology, high-end chemical products, pollution control, and resource utilization. The goal is to create a first-class petrochemical technology innovation base serving the Greater Bay Area and South China's coastal petrochemical industry belt.
