The Sanling Mountain National Forest Park is located on the most southern point of the Chinese mainland. The natural ecological garden totaling an area of 22,685 mu (1512.34 ha) is like a large green jade lying 3 kilometers northeastward from downtown Zhanjiang. As the largest natural barrier of Zhanjiang city, it is known as the "City Lung" of Zhanjiang and the beautiful "Backyard Garden".

The Sanling Mountain National Forest Park enjoys a unique subtropical forest climate. The Chixi Lake has a surface area of more than 600 mu (40 ha) and is like a crystal mirror reflecting the pretty face of the Forest Park. There are 318 kinds of arbor trees, 536 kinds of bushes and 670 kinds of vegetations, 6 of which are first class or second class national protected plants.
