Zheng Renhao, Party secretary of Zhanjiang met with Wu Chengyu, general manager of the Guangdong branch of China Tower Corp Limited, on April 7. 

The two sides had in-depth exchanges and discussions on comprehensively accelerating the construction of the 5G network in Zhanjiang to support the high-quality economic development of the city.

Zheng, on behalf of the CPC Zhanjiang Municipal Committee and the municipal government, expressed his heartfelt thanks to the company's strong supports for Zhanjiang's information construction.

Big data and informationalized services have played an irreplaceable role in the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) epidemic prevention and control efforts, publicity and guidance, telemedicine, online transactions, as well as e-commerce, especially since the COVID-19 outbreak, said Zheng.

Currently, Zhanjiang is accelerating the construction of 5G base stations around the city and promoting the application of 5G in industrial Internet, education, medical care, commerce and trade, transportation, as well as all-for-one tourism, added Zheng. 

Zheng also expressed his hopes that China Tower Corp Limited will continue to increase investment in the 5G network construction in Zhanjiang, as well as plan in advance the construction of supporting communications facilities for the city's key transportation hubs, industrial parks, and large infrastructure projects to help the construction of a smart city.

The 5G network has become important infrastructure to promote information consumption amid the COVID-19 epidemic prevention and control efforts, said Wu. 

The Guangdong branch of China Tower Corp Limited currently has fully resumed production and work, noted Wu, adding that Zhanjiang is one of the enterprise's key 5G construction areas.

The enterprise will increase investment and promote the telecommunication construction of major engineering projects in Zhanjiang to help the city speed up the construction of a provincial sub-central city and a modern coastal economic belt.
