The Zhanjiang Museum

The Zhanjiang Museum is located at No 50 Nanfang Road, Chikan District. Built in 1960, it is a three-story building in Soviet-style. The museum covers a total area of 27,676 square meters. The floor area of the exhibition building is 6,000 square meters.

The museum boasts a lush garden with big green trees. The outer appearance of the exhibition building resembles the Military Museum of the Chinese People's Revolution in Beijing. The plaque bearing the museum title is based on the handwriting of Mr. Dong Biwu (1885-1975), a founding member and leader of the Communist Party of China.

Permanent exhibitions include: the Exhibition of the 100-Year History of Zhanjiang, the Exhibition of Zhanjiang People's Anti-French Struggle, the Exhibition of Ancient Copper Drums, the Exhibition of the Selected Porcelain, and the Exhibition of Non-Material Cultural Heritage in Zhanjiang.

Of them, the Exhibition of Zhanjiang People's Anti-French Struggle is to show the struggle against the French invasion of the Kuangchowan by the people in Suixi, Zhanjiang from 1898 to 1899. This exhibition has been used to develop the patriotism of the younger generation.

In 1995, the State Cultural Relics Bureau designated the museum as a Patriotic Education Base.

Please be noted: The museum opens on Saturdays and Sundays and is closed on Mondays.

Opening hours: 9:00-11:30 and 15:00-17:30.

On weekends or holidays: 9:00-17:00.

How to get there:

Take Bus No 1, No 2, No 6, No 8, No 11, No 12, No 13, No 15, No 16, No 17, No 22, No 23, No 33, No 912B, No 807, No 821 and get off at the Cunjin Bust Stop.

Take Bus No 25, No 805 and get off at the No 1 Middle School Stop.
