The Zhanjiang municipal government on Dec 18 held its annual meeting to review the work of the city's industrial parks and development zones as well as investment projects in 2014.

Lianjiang city, Chikan and Potou districts were ranked the top three during a performance review session.

Also at the meeting, the city's economy and information technology bureau said Zhanjiang has landed 84 new investment projects so far this year, with about 26 billion yuan ($4.2 billion) planned to be invested. The annual output of these projects is likely to reach 31.6 billion yuan at full capacity.

In addition, 79 projects with planned investments totaling 10.1 billion yuan are already up and running. Their annual output is estimated to top 26 billion yuan, the bureau said.

From January to September, Zhanjiang's industrial parks and development zones registered a total industrial output of more than 77.8 billion yuan, up 18.8 percent from a year ago, according to the bureau.

This year, Zhanjiang will hopefully make three breakthroughs. The industrial output of the city's industrial parks and development zones will likely amount to more than 100 billion yuan. Fixed-asset investment by the industrial parks and development zones is likely to top 20 billion yuan, helping boost the city's total fixed-asset investment to over 100 billion yuan. All the counties, county-level cities and districts of Zhanjiang will likely see their GDP exceed 10 billion yuan.

Zhanjiang Mayor Wang Zhongbing called on the city to adjust itself to new situations and grab new opportunities to seek better development and make efforts to boost county economies to higher levels.

On the same day, Wang and other officials of the municipal government also inspected some of Zhanjiang's key projects under construction and local companies.
